I want to use this medium to call on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu who once said ‘I am determined to beat Jega’s record.’ It’s easier said than done but to achieve the above statement, he must be up and doing, vigilant, tolerant, stand for the truth and nothing but the truth.
I salute Professor Attahiru Jega during the process of announcing 2015 presidential election result between Dr Goodluck Jonathan and President Muhammadu Buhari when a well planned arrangement to disrupt the announcement of the result was not allowed to thrive though an elder statesman wrongly alleged Professor Jega of been tribalistic, selective and partial which many Nigerians knew was not true.
I so much love the understanding, comportment, and uncommon maturity displayed by Professor Jega during the incident. Nigerians should look beyond 2019 election to elect credible, selfless, matured minded leaders in all levels.
Youths must shun violence and the politicians shouldn’t win election with peoples’ blood just as former President Goodluck Jonathan said that his ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian.
Perpetrators of any election crime must face the wrath of the law; politicians should know that Nigeria belongs to all of us and they must make sure this nation is not set ablaze for their interest.
