The Ekiti State House of Assembly has emphasised the necessity for collaboration among key stakeholders in formulating policies and implementing solutions to address the myriad challenges facing the country.
The Chairman of the Assembly’s Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Honourable Babatunde Oke, spoke with newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, on Monday. He stated that the legislature, under the speakership of Adeoye Aribasoye, is committed to supporting the executive for the benefit of the citizens.
He explained that the Assembly would organize a retreat in partnership with Cavista Holdings Ltd for members and stakeholders within and outside the state. The purpose is to brainstorm and offer support to Governor Biodun Oyebanji in delivering his vision of shared prosperity for the people of the state.
Oke, representing Ikere State Constituency 1, revealed that the one-day retreat, themed “Enhancing Socio-Economic Development of Ekiti State through the Private Sector and Foreign Direct Investment: The Role of the Legislature,” would be held on Wednesday at Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort. Attendees will include the Conference of Speakers in the South West, former governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the Consul-General of the US Embassy, Will Stevens, members of the National Assembly, captains of industry, among others.
“The main objective of the one-day Retreat, scheduled for Wednesday, 21st February 2024, at Ikogosi Warm Springs Resorts, is to bring together stakeholders to exchange ideas that will foster socio-economic development and help the state chart a path towards a brighter future,” said Oke.
“The Ekiti State House of Assembly understands that the development challenges we are facing as a country, including the formulation and implementation of new-generation development policies, require an urgent need to bring stakeholders together to brainstorm on how to refocus policy interventions and strategies towards fostering domestic productive capacities, enabling structural transformation and economic diversification.

The Retreat will also allow formal interaction by the participants and officials both at the national and state levels.”
He assured participants and stakeholders that resolutions from the retreat would be supported by a legislative framework for the executive to formulate for the socio-economic growth of the people of the state.
“As a legislative arm of government, the Ekiti State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye will continue to work in synergy with other arms of government and various stakeholders through responsible and responsive legislation to keep Ekiti working towards shared prosperity,” he said.
