Oniru of Iruland, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, and Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Rotimi Abiru, rejoiced with Muslims faithful all over the world on the occasion of Eid-El-Kabir.
The Oniru of Iruland urged Nigerians, most especially the Muslims to imbibe the lessons of the sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim and work for the unity and peace of the nation.
The royal father also rejoiced with the Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, all Lagosians and particularly all the good people of Iru Kingdom, saying that the Eid-el-Kabir comes with great lessons being a reminder of sacrifice everyone was expected to make.
According to him, the sacrifice is not only for spiritual fulfilment but also for the progress of mankind and development of the society, praying “Allah to grant us His grace to celebrate many of it in good health and wealth.”
“As we celebrate Eid-Kabir this year, I join Muslim faithful across the country to share in the felicity of this Ileya Festival. The Eid-el-Adha comes with significant lessons for mankind. It is a symbolic Islamic festival that is a constant reminder to us that, there will always be great rewards when we have long-lasting faith and perseverance in trying periods; diligence in prayers and tenacity in our belief.
“I felicitate Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and all the entire people of Lagos State, particularly the good people of Iru Kingdom on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir. May Allah (SWT) grant us His grace to celebrate many of it in good health and wealth,” Oba Lawal said.
The monarch also used the occasion to reiterate his commitment to the implementation of “Let’s Grow Iru Land Together” (#LeGIT Vision), describing the concept as a platform for procuring pragmatic solutions to the challenges facing Iru Land.
The Oniru said that it was heartwarming that the Initiative had been a rallying point as well as a clarion call to all and sundry to work with him to grow Iru Land into one of the most sustainable and desirable communities in Lagos.
“This is also in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda of the current administration of the Lagos State Government,” the monarch affirmed.
Also, Abiru felicitated with Nigerians, particularly the Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-el Kabir, urging them to remember the purpose of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, which is to commemorate the trials and triumph of Prophet Ibrahim.
Abiru, the immediate past Chief Whip of the House, said this in his Sallah message, admonishing Nigerians “to be steadfast in their commitment to building the nation of our dream.”
“I call on all to take Inspiration from the exemplary virtues demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim through his sacrifice, steadfastness, patience, obedience and generosity to Almighty Allah’s command and constituted authority,” he said.
The lawmaker, who represents Shomolu Constituency Two in the Lagos State House of Assembly, stressed that, Nigeria should always remember their shared heritage and destiny and to be guided by the Nigerian spirit of confidence as they tackle the contemporary challenges of nation-building.
Abiru also charged all candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming local government election to ensure victory for the party across the 20 local governments (LGs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
He congratulated the people of his constituency in Bariga and Lagosians at large, wishing everyone happy Sallah celebrated with caution and in observance of COVID-19 protocols.
