A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Jubril Kolawole Emilagba, has disbursed cash and fabrics to vulnerable residents in the Lagos Mainland Local Government.
The distribution, according to Emilagba, who is also the vice-chairman and a leading chairmanship aspirant in the local government, was part of his commitment to the welfare of his constituents to ease their burden of needs.
Over 1,000 people, drawn from all the wards in the Lagos Mainland Local Government, benefited from the cash and fabric distribution exercise, which was held at the premises of the Ansar-ud-deen Primary School, Osholake, Ebute-Meta East, Lagos.
He stated that the distribution reinforced his belief in empowering the people at the grassroots as a catalyst for sustainable development and growth.
In his remarks, he said, “As a leader, I believe it is our responsibility to support those in need and provide opportunities for growth and development. This belief gives birth to our monthly financial support programme and other interventions aimed at easing the economic needs of the people. It is one of our ways to make a difference in the lives of our people.
“Our efforts are focused on empowering both the old and young and adding value to their existence. This initiative has seen us distribute cash gifts and Kampala fabrics to over 500 people in the spirit of the Eid-el-Fitri celebration.
“This is what governance is and more. And this we will continue to do. Our administration will foster youth empowerment, self-reliance, job creation, skill and capacity building, and a spirit of community service.”
He emphasised that his aspiration for the chairmanship position is driven by a passion for service and the desire to implement more impactful programmes that will foster economic growth, inclusivity, social welfare, and community development.
Also speaking at the event, the Baale of Oyingbo, High Chief Adegboyega Junaid, commended the selfless service and dedication of Hon. Emilagba to the welfare and cause of the people at the grassroots.
Junaid, who spoke on behalf of the Baale-in-Council, also acknowledged the financial support and contributions of the politician to the growth and development of the common man, irrespective of their political affiliation.
He said, “I cannot but acknowledge the support and frequent intervention of Hon. Emilagba to the well-being of the people at the grassroots. This is a demonstration of your love for the people you are aspiring to lead, and I am certain they will reciprocate when the time comes. On behalf of the beneficiaries, I thank and appreciate you for your usual support in ensuring that the people at the grassroots are better off.”
The All Progressives Congress (APC) LGA chairman, Hon. Abiodun Fagba, commended the politician for the initiative.
He stated that the welfare of the people is one of the priorities of the APC while also pledging more people-oriented programmes and interventions for the electorate.
Beneficiaries, who acknowledged the positive impact of the cash gifts on their lives, expressed their gratitude to the politician.
They expressed deep gratitude while declaring their support and loyalty to the political aspiration of Hon. Emilagba.
