DPO, others killed during kidnap rescue operation in Delta

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Delta State Police Command and his team were reportedly killed during a night raid to rescue kidnapped victims.

Another DPO is currently fighting for his life in an undisclosed hospital following the unsuccessful rescue mission in Delta State.

The DPOs and their team were ambushed during a mission to rescue kidnapped victims at around 1:00 a.m on Monday near the Agbarho rail station.

This tragic incident was reported by Delta Human Rights Activist, Comrade Israel Joe, on his official Facebook page on Monday.

He narrated, “The New DPO Agbarho who resumed two days ago, The DPO Orerokpe CSP Paul and their men, who went for a kídnapp rescue operations at about 1:am in the early hours of today were ambushed close to the Agbarho rail Station.

“There was an exchange of fire, the new DPO, and some police men were kíIIed while the Orerokpe DPO has been rushed to an undisclosed hospital where he is battling with his life.

“I feel very pained about this news. This was the same DPO I spoke with yesterday about the conduct of his men who demanded money from a citizen, and he rescued the situation immediately, cautioning his men not to try that again under his watch.

“This is very tearful, I can, to some extent, attest to the characters of these men.

“None of these demons should be spared by the force,” he noted.

When contacted, the police public relations officer for Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the gory incident.

“They (the police team) were ambushed. But it’s only the DPO that we lost,” he stated.
