“IN this time, we don’t need another war; it is time for us to think and reflect on the past and build a greater, more united country.” These were the words of governor of Delta State, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa at the 2nd Anniversary Thanksgiving Service of the 6th Delta State House of Assembly held at the Living Faith Church, Asaba, on Sunday.

This is coming at a time of calls for secession are emanating from different parts of the country, especially the eastern and northern parts of the country.

Although from Delta-Igbo extraction of Ika, Senator Okowa disclosed that “Nigeria needs God to survive; by the grace of God, Nigeria is one and will remain as one.”

He, therefore, enjoined “Christians should continue to pray for the country,” because “we don’t want to see war.”

According to governor, whose state is next to Anambra, the melting point for the Biafra Republic agitators, Nigerians should reflect and re-examine their actions and activities vis-a-vis legacies that will be bequeathed to coming generations.

“It is time to re-examine ourselves, examine our homes and to think of our existence.

“We need to reflect on things we do as parents and what we are inculcating into our children because, as parents, we must build into our children the knowledge of God for us to have a better society,” he admonished.

In attendance at the thanksgiving service were the Deputy Governor, Mr Kingsley Otuaro, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Sheriff Oborevwori, traditional rulers and the clergy, among others.
