As controversy over the site of the discovery of oil between Bauchi and Gombe States rages on, Bauchi Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has declared that the discovery will not in any way severe the brotherhood between the two states insisting that there is no conflict between them stressing that the two people are one and share a lot in common.
The Governor speaking when he received members of the Gombe State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Abubakar Sadiq Kurba on a courtesy visit to him at the council chamber, Government House Bauchi on Thursday opined that rather than divide them, the discovery will further cement the cordial relationship between the two states and bring development to the people.
Bala Mohammed also said that the discovery of oil will not be a means of causing disharmony thereby affecting the good relationship that existed between the two states right from time immemorial up till 1996 when Gombe State was created out of Bauchi State by the military regime of late General Sani Abacha.

He further noted with satisfaction the process so far made by Gombe State in the areas of continuity and infrastructural development and expressed gratitude to Gombe State lawmakers for the solidarity visit, appealed to them to support their governor to enable him to succeed.
Speaker of Gombe State House of Assembly, Abubakar Sadiq Kurba who led the delegation, stated that the visit was to congratulate Governor Bala Mohammed on his recent victory at the Supreme Court.
While tracing the political history of the Governor, the Speaker expressed confidence that Bauchi State will record remarkable achievements under his PDP led administration.
He then enjoined people of Bauchi State to put political sentiments apart and join the administration in its efforts to develop the state and bring democratic dividends closer to the people.
