Police officers from Ovwian Police Division have arrested three individuals in connection with the killing and beheading of a security guard for a poultry farm in Udu Local Government Area, Delta State.
Reports gathered indicates that fishermen on a fishing trip discovered the severed head of the victim in the Erhiephihor community river.
The deceased, identified as Omadide Uruemu Peter, a poultry farm guard and father of one in his 30s, was allegedly beheaded by unknown assailants, with his headless body dumped in Erhiephihor.
Sources claim he was killed for praying too loudly at midnight. Before moving to Ovwodokpokpor, his former neighbors in Otu-Jeremi had reportedly complained about his late-night prayers.

A conflicting account suggests he had been residing in Erhiephihor before his murder.
However, Erhiephihor’s Secretary-General, Mr. Daniel Omohovwighren, clarified that the killing took place in Ovwodokpokpor and that the body was later dumped in Erhiephihor.
Following the murder, both communities took swift action by involving the police and vigilantes.
Authorities arrested three suspects, including one from Ovwodokpokpor, an Ijaw individual, and a Yoruba man.
The suspects were initially detained at Ovwian Police Station before being transferred to Asaba under the supervision of the President-Generals of both communities.
Contrary to initial reports, the victim’s head was recovered from Ovwodokpokpor River, not Erhiephihor River.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, confirmed the incident.
