Okugbeni was last week assassinated by suspected gunmen at his residence in Ughwagba community, Okpe, few hours after the local government chairmanship aspirant had paid the ward executive a visit to consult them on his ambition to run for council election.
Speaking to newsmen at the deceased resident, Agbarho, the Okpe LGA PDP party chairman, Chief Efe Uko, said the death of the ward chairman, Okugbeni came to them as a rude shock.
He described his death as an irreparable loss not only to his family, but to the entire Okpe PDP and the state at large.
Uko said late Okugbeni was a loving gentleman who had shown serious dedication and commitment to the activities of the party, adding that the party would not leave no stone unturned to fish out his killers.
He urged the police to bring the perpetrators to book, adding that the people have confidence that the police will do a thorough investigation and bring to the public domain whether the death is political or is about Ughwagba youth leadership tussle in the community.
The local government party chairman, who advised the wife and other family members of the deceased to seek comfort in God over the vacuum created by the demise of late Okugbeni, said it was only God that would give them the courage to bear the loss.
