The meeting to be hosted by Oshiomhole in Abuja on Tuesday, after much mudslinging and shenanigans by the two tendencies, will have the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, in attendance.
Kachikwu, a few weeks ago, had earlier made fruitless efforts to reconcile the warring factions to no avail as the Ogboru/Omo-Agege reportedly opted out of the gathering.
An invite for the meeting conjectured on Monday that the national chairman called for the Tuesday truce following the series of litigations and counter litigations that have arisen from the congresses and the ongoing fierce fight for the party’s structure.
The meeting, he further confided, is targeted at finding a lasting political solution to the intraparty logjam in the state that has seen Comrade Oshiomhole initially taking sides with the Ogboru/Omo-Agege faction with his alleged swearing in of the executive that emerged from the faction last Monday.
It will be recalled that a battle of supremacy has ensued between the two tendencies in the party with one led by the state party leader, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor and Chief Great Ogboru and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege over who controls the structure of the party in the state.

This has led to the emergence of two state executives one led by Chief Cyril Ogodo of the Emerhor faction and that of Prophet Jones Erue of the Ogboru/Omo-Agege faction, but the former was sworn in by the former national chairman, Chief John Oyegun.
A participant at the scheduled Tuesday truce-breaking in Abuja said Oshiomhole was acting on reasonable advice he received from some elders of the party amid the dismemberment ravaging the party at the national level.
“The national chairman, having listened to other leaders within and outside the state, decided to play the role of a big father by hearing from both sides and finding a way of settling the issue in a win-win situation for both sides.
“He knows that winning Delta is a must and to win Delta, we must bring every stakeholder to the table.
“So, it’s going to be an all-embracing reconciliation and Delta APC will come out stronger because both parties are also open for dialogue,” the source noted.
