For breakfast, I personally prefer custard which can be served with akara and milk or fruit and milk.
Custard and akara is a favourite breakfast option for both the young and the old in Nigeria. I love Checkers 3-in-1 instant custard becauseit’s easy to prepare,pocket-friendly and contains essential nutrients.

Custard ingredients:
2 Checker 3-in-1 instant custard
1 tin of liquid milk
Sugar(optional)
Akara ingredients:
1 ½ cups of brown beans
4 large bonnet peppers
1 small red onion
1 seasoning cube
Salt
Vegetable oil(for deep frying)
Preparation:
Pick dirt and stones out of the beans. Add water and peel the skin off, leaving the white part of the beans. Soak the beans in water for about three hours before grinding. This is for the consistency to be achieved while grinding.
Grind the beans with a blender or do so traditionally. Pour the paste in a bowl and add the already grated bonnet pepper and onion.
Add salt and crushed seasoning and then stir gradually with a turner for some minutes. This is one of the secrets to getting succulent akara balls.
Gently drop preferred size of balls into heated oil and deepfry until all sides of the balls are uniformly golden brown. Akara requires moderate heat.
Remove the akara balls and drain in a sieve or absorbent kitchen paper.
Custard with fruit
Custard can likewise be taken with fresh fruit salad, a nice option for those who usually don’t have much appetite in the morning. It is prepared using different kinds of fruits; watermelon, papaya, apple and cucumber. Best enjoyed when hot or ice-cubed.
