The Commissioner of Police in Niger State, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, has expressed his desire to collaborate with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger State Council.
During a courtesy visit to the NUJ secretariat in Minna, Elleman acknowledged the pivotal role journalists play in society, stating, “I love journalists, not because they are the ears and eyes of the masses, but because they inform the world of situations in the society.”
Elleman emphasised the importance of inclusive policing and urged journalists to share their observations on security challenges in the state.
He noted that the cooperation between the police and journalists has helped address issues like thuggery in Minna.
The police boss assured that his command would uphold human rights and protect citizens and their properties, saying, “With my law background and police duties, I shall uphold human rights and protect citizens and their properties by providing a conducive atmosphere for all.”
He also pledged that the State Police Command under his leadership would be neutral and not engage in partisan politics.
The NUJ State Chairman, Comrade Abu Nmodu, responded by expressing support and cooperation for the Commissioner of Police, highlighting the achievements and assistance rendered to the union since Elleman assumed duty in March this year.
