COVID-19: NYSC presents face masks to Sokoto correspondent chapel

The management of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC ) Sokoto State on Wednesday led some serving Corp members to donate face masks to the members of correspondent chapel Sokoto chapter.

Presenting the items to the members at the chapel headquarters, Dogon Daji house Sokoto, the NYSC State Coordinator Philip Enatonme Enabuere represented by Assistant Director Dr Samuel Okorocha said the gesture is to mitigate the spread of the virus among the journalists who are in front line reporting the pandemic

The coordinator further explained that NYSC and correspondent chapel are partners in progress stressing that he was impressed with the way the chapel reported the activities of the NYSC in the state.

He said the face masks were produced by a corp member, Umuokoro Faith Okiemute, a batch “B” Corp member with the state code SO/19B/3276, with the ministry of environment, Sokoto, as part of her contribution in fighting the spread of coronavirus pandemic.

On her part, the donor Miss Faith Okiemute said she has been donating the face masks to organizations, agencies and ministries as part of her contribution to curbing the spread of the deadly virus saying that journalists who are in the front line of campaign against the spread of the virus need to benefit from the gesture.

Speaking on behalf of the chairman of correspondent chapel Sokoto chapter Habibu Harisu, the chapel secretary Ankeli Emmanuel commended the NYSC for the benevolence gesture.

Harisu also called on other agencies to do the same saying nothing is too little to contribute at this trying time saying the fight against this unseen enemy called coronavirus is a collective effort.
