The sum of N10million has been earmarked by the Bauchi State Government for fumigation in order to guard against the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
The disclosure was made by the State Commissioner for Environment and Housing, Hamisu Muazu Shira, while briefing Newsmen at the commencement of the exercise held at the main entrance of the Government House, Bauchi, on Friday.
The Commissioner explained that the 5-day spraying exercise was designed to be conducted in strategic locations within the Bauchi metropolis and other major towns across the state saying that: ” We are basically here today to begin the spread against the COVID-19, the state government has supported us to conduct this exercise.”
Hamisu Shira added that:” His Excellency, Senator Bala Mohammed, has assured of his support in this exercise so as to keep the citizens from this deadly virus,” adding that the exercise will be extended to other parts of the state as part of government’s efforts to tackle the spread of coronavirus in the state.
The Commissioner also said that over 300 personnel are to partake in the exercise, calling on stakeholders in the state to support the exercise in to ensure its success.
