AN Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court in Ekiti on Monday ordered the remand of one Abdullahi Lawal, 35, for alleged murder.
The defendant. of no fixed address, is standing trial on a count charge of murder.
The police prosecutor, Insp. Oriyomi Akinwale told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 24 in Ado-Ekiti.
Akinwale alleged that the defendant murdered one Fayomi Olaoluwa, a 50-year-old man.
He said the defendant and deceased were dating the same woman, who told the defendant that she was no more interested in the relationship and had chosen to be with the deceased.
Akinwale said that a fight ensued between the two and in the cause of the fight, the defendant stabbed the deceased on the chest and died.

According to him, the offence contravened Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant in prison pending legal advice from the office of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The plea of the defendant was not taken.
The Magistrate, Mrs Modupe Afeniforo, ordered that the defendant should be remanded in prison, pending advice from the DPP.
Afeniforo adjourned the case until June 10, for mention.
