CJN suspension: Jigawa NBA rejects court strike

NIGERIA Bar Association (NBA) Jigawa state chapter rejected the two-day court strike called by the national headquarter of the association in protest to the suspension of Chief Judge of Nigeria Mr Welter Onneghe.

The branch described the strike as untimely and an action that could portray the profession in a bad shape to the public.

The state chairman of the association Barrister Bashir Hussaini announced their stand yesterday while ‎addressing newsmen at statel high court Dutse.

He explained that NBA Dutse branch expresses their deep concern on the suspension ‎of Chief Justice of Nigeria but the branch could not embark on any strike or boycott court proceeding.

“The branch will not embark on any strike or boycott of court proceeding, so we are always in support to fight corruption at any level, ” Hussaini said.

The NBA chairman described the situation as a trial time for the legal profession in Nigeria‎ adding that nobody is above the law.

He called on warring parties to seek redress through legal means by appealing against the order of the tribunal for the suspension of the CJN instead of embarking on court-boycott that would detrimental to the parties.
