The Nigerian Tribune gathered that the discovery and arrest followed a complaint by one of the victims, Abdulrahman Mumini, who had allegedly been duped to the tune of an accumulated amount of N5 million for the purpose of making money.
Speaking during the parade of the two suspects at the headquarters of the command in Ilorin on Monday, the spokesperson of the command said that the arrest of the suspects, namely, Kazeem Absdulsalam of Omu-Aran in Irepodun LGA (54) and Adamu Hussein of Marafa Oja in Ilorin East LGA (36 years) was affected by men of intelligence of the command.
“Under the able leadership of the commandant, Mr Ayinla Adeyinka, a team was led to the venue at Aleyo settlement along Ojoko Road, Off Afon Asa, LGA. There was situated a shrine for ritualists. When we got there, we were able to see for ourselves some very gory pictures, sites, shrines. The sight was actually very appalling. It was horrible. It was not a nice thing to see.
“We are working in collaboration with the state government to ensure that we dig to the root of this omen. We have got in our custody, two suspects, Mr Kazeem Absdulsalam of Omu-Aran in Irepodun LGA (54) and Adamu Hussein of Marafa Oja in Ilorin East LGA (36 years).
“The prime accused, Mr Kazeem Abdulsalam had confessed to the fact that he requested from the complainant in the person of Abdulrahman Mumini. He also agreed that he asked the victim to make provision of N280,000 for appeasing the gods as they have been doing because the whole process is to entreat God for money making rituals. He fell victim because he has been entreating god before now.
“The victim was looking for financial fortunes or breakthrough. Along the line, maybe in the past he was able to break through and he came to limelight and still believed the efficacy of the rituals he got to know that he had been duped”, he said.
The spokesperson of the corps, who said that members of the public should go about their lawful business without fear, added that no stone would be left unturned by security agents to get to the root of the matter.
“Out security outfit is on top of its game to ensure that we bring the culprits to justice. We want to warn that the general public should be very careful as to where and how they seek financial fortunes”, he said.
