The President, the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM), Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo, (the Catholic Archbishop of Kinshasa); Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, His Grace the Most Reverend Dr. Alfred Adewale Martins; the Governor of Lagos State,Ā Mr Babajide Sanwo Olu; Prelates, priests and Media personalities are allĀ expected to attend CEPACS 50th anniversary Mass at Holy Cross Cathedral Lagos on Sunday, as well as attend the anniversary’s assembly on Monday at Lumen Christi Retreat Centre, Lekki.
The President, CEPAC, His Lordship, The Right Reverend Emmanuel Badejo, the Catholic Bishop of Oyo diocese while addressing Journalists at the pre-anniversary press conference, said that “Pan African Episcopal Committee for Social Communications (CEPACS) created in 1973 in Ibadan by the Symposium of Episcopal Conference of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM) wasĀ established to help the Catholic Bishops in Africa in the area of social communicationsĀ and information dissemination Ā toĀ members of the Church and the public in general.ā
The Bishop added that “the 50th anniversary of CEPACS is the comingĀ together of CEPACS Social Communication Officers from eight regions of CEPACS in Africa to do a reappraisal of the 50 years of CEPACS in AfricaĀ and discuss waysĀ to improve on the disseminationĀ ofĀ the right messages or contentsĀ to the general public that will be of Help to the society in this age of social media abuse.
Participants are expected from the eight regions of CEPACS from the whole of Africa to attend the two days event holding from November 19th – 21 2023 in Lagos.
