President Muhammadu Buhari is currently presiding over the rescheduled meeting of the Police Council
The meeting is taking place at the First Lady’s Wing of the presidential villa, Abuja.
It ought to have held last week but was postponed in honour of the late Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 other servicemen who perished in the recent air crash in Kaduna.
In attendance at the meeting are Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and governor of Ekiti state, Kayode Fayemi and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.
Others are the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari;?Ministers of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi; Interior, Ra’uf Aregbesola; Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Muhammed Bello and the Chairman Police Service Commission, Musiliu Smith.
The acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba is also at the venue of the meeting and will likely be confirmed as the substantive IGP during the session today.
