Buhari condoles with Bello over mother’s death as 3-day fidau prayer holds in Okene

President Muhammad Buhari on Tuesday condoled with Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, as the three-day fidau prayer for his late mother, Hajia Hauwau Bello, who died on Sunday at the age of 101, held in the state.

The President was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari, who led a high powered delegation to the governor’s country home in Okene, where the prayer was held.

Amongst those on the presidential delegation include the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed; Minister of Special Duties, Senator George Akume and Minister of State for FCT, Hajia Ramatu Tijani.

Others were Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Amb. Dandatti Abdulkadir and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu.

The president while commiserating with the governor and family members over the demise of his mother, noted that the late Hajia Hauwau would be remembered for her unwavering supports, counsels, and encouragement to the governor.

The president while pointing out that her demise has created a vacuum that would be difficult to fill, enjoined the governor and the entire family to draw inspiration from the fact that she lived a fulfilled life.

President Buhari mentioned that the late Hajiya Hauwau lived to witness the governor’s leadership and achievements as the executive governor of Kogi State.

He prayed for God to give the family members the fortitude to bear the loss and also grant the late Hajiya Hauwau eternal rest.

Governor Bello in his response appreciated the president for commiserating with him, his family and the people of Kogi State in such time of grief.

He narrated that when Mr. President was ill, his mother fasted for seven days to seek the face of God for his quick recovery, adding that such gesture was out of her zest and love for people.

Bello pointed out that the late matriarch trained up her children in a very virtuous way and raised up all her children to always have the fear of God and love for humanity.

He told the president that before her mother’s demise, she charged him to fight insecurity in the state to the barest minimum owing to her experience in the hands of kidnappers for 93 days.

Governor Bello assured that his government would continue to follow the footsteps of the president especially in the fight against insecurity, affirming that Kogi State under his watch as governor would remain safe, secured and prosperous.
