The Wife of Ondo State Governor, Mrs Betty Akeredolu, has called on Nigerians to assist breast cancer patients financially to curb the scourge.
She made the call on Monday when members of Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN), Ondo State chapter paid a visit to a patient, Dupe Ajayi in Itaogbolu in Akure Local Government Area of the state.
The governor’s wife, who was represented by a member of BRECAN, Mrs Temitope Adeniyan, said breast cancer patients required financial strength, especially when the disease had reached an advanced stage.

She expressed concern over how women die of breast cancer because of the delay in raising funds for treatment, which gave room for the patient’s cell to multiply as the disease progressed with time.
She appealed to breast cancer patients to pay attention to the general awareness on social media over early detection, which she said could save lives by doing a periodic breast self-examination.
She enlightened women to be conscious of their state of health by going for regular medical checkup, exercise for body fitness and eating a balanced diet.
She reiterated a commitment to fight against breast cancer as a life-threatening disease.
