There was panic across Delta State Sunday morning as a lady, simply identified as Taiye, was said to have vomited clean notes of N500 denomination in Warri.
The bizarre incident occurred at the wee hours of Sunday at a storey building beside JJC Junction along Effurun – Sapele road, Uvwie Local Government Area, where the lady was said to be cohabiting with his boyfriend.
Drama ensued over the strange occurrence around the area as a huge crowd of young boys and girls gathered at the scene of the incident when Tribune Online visited at about 7:40 a.m.
Many of the spectators at the scene of the incident were clad in Sunday worship dresses, church-bound, but chose to feed their eyes and ears with the mysterious development that had literally stopped several ladies from wearing pants in Delta State, as ladies pants were said to be the ritual weapons in the hands of Yahoo Plus boys for money rituals.
A neighbour, who witnessed the Sunday bizarre episode, said Taiye began to vomit the naira notes at about 1:00 a.m when a pastor was drafted to conduct deliverance sessions for her.
The lady, the female witness said, was “used” by another Yahoo boy who allegedly stole her pant to make the money ritual.
The victim was said to have begun to feel groggy, then intermittently passed out, some two days ago, before neighbours began to suspect something was amiss.
She was said to have also complained about some rumblings in her lower abdomen and that one of her pants was missing.
A few minutes after the prayer session began, she reportedly began to vomit the naira notes that, witnesses said, totalled about N5, 000.
She would have vomited more naira notes, it was gathered, but the effectual prayers of the cleric, who was said to be tottering forward and backward during the prayer session with the foul spirits.
For the better part of Sunday morning, scores of curious tale bearers cum sympathizers, who abandoned church services, gathered in several groups discussing the development.
A heavy gridlock, thereafter, built up along the busy Effurun – Sapele road while some boys in the area began to make brisk businesses from the sale of video clips of the incident.
While to watch a still picture of the incident from a smartphone cost N100, each of the video clips containing the vomited money (kept in a plastic bucket) and the lady being prayed for by clerics, was shared and sold for N500.
Two mobile policemen met Tribune Online at the scene, but declined comments before more policemen later arrived from Ekpan Divisional Police headquarters and that of Ebrumede.
As of that time, a group of clerics were taking the victim through a prayer session for deliverance, just as journalists were barred from the scene.
The Police operatives covered the face of the victim while whisking her away from the room she was being prayed for to an undisclosed police station.
It will be recalled that “Yahoo Plus boys” have been on the prowl in the Delta State in recent times, getting to a head after the killing and mutilation of the body of a female student of the Delta State University (DELSU) in Abraka about a month ago.
The killing and a handful thereafter, has since sent jitters into the spines of ladies in the state who now keep vigil on their undies, menstrual pads and other private inner wears which are reportedly being sought after and bought for money-making rituals.
Consequently, the Delta State governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, was, after the DELSU lady saga, was prompt at ordering all security agencies, especially the police, to clamp down on the prowling Yahoo boys.
Police Public Relations officer, Delta Police Command, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, told Tribune Online that he was not aware of the incident, promising to get back, but he never did nor was his mobile line reachable when he was further contacted.
However, Tribune Online saw police a vehicle whisking the lady to an undisclosed location.
