Many motorists in Kano on Monday were subjected to unexpected delay due to the blockade and closure of most roads in the metropolis over the visit by the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Alkali Baba to the state.
There as severe a gridlock as some of the roads were blocked and closed for over two hours by police personnel over the IGP’s visit to attend the passing out parade of cadets at Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil scheduled for Tuesday.
The major roads affected by the blockade include the ever-busy Murtala Muhammad Way, Audu Bako Way, Tukur Road, Airport Road and Bompai Road.
While speaking with some of the motorists, they expressed sadness over the blockade that affected their movement for hours as they were prevented from going about their activities.
According to one Malam Garba Gwarzo, “It is sad that in this 21st century, just because an IGP is visiting, roads would have to be blocked, even the Service Chiefs have visited severally without this harrowing experience.”
