The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) has said it would comply with the court order halting the completion of collation of results in Tafawa Balewa local government area of Bauchi State.
Speaking with Tribune Online in a telephone interview, Barrister Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner, Voter’s Education and Publicity Committee said the Commission in compliance with the court order would stay action on the collation of results of the governorship election in Tafawa Balewa local government but would proceed with the process for the state assembly election result.
Okoye further revealed that the Commission was determined to challenge the order of the Court, as he noted that the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the case.

He said: “We are complying with court order stopping collation of results for governorship results in Tafawa Balewa local government but we shall go ahead with results for state assembly elections in the same local government.
“But by Saturday, we shall conclude with the process in other polling units, outside Balewa local government.
“We have appealed the judgement because we believe the court that made that order has no jurisdiction to entertain the case.”
