For illegally diverting and receiving pension of the sum of N54,871.26 monthly four years and seven months amounting to a total sum of N3,017,919.30, Bauchi State Government has terminated the appointment of one Ibrahim Garba.
The termination of the appointment was announced by the State Civil Service Commission which also directed that the sum shall be recovered from his benefits.
Before the termination of appointment, Ibrahim Garba was the Chief Secretarial Assistant attached to the State Pension Board.
The Commission approved the termination of the appointment in a sitting of its 17th plenary session held on 1st August, 2023 at its Conference Hall.
According to a statement from the Information Office of the Commission, the Officer was found wanting for serious misconduct for involving himself in a salary/pension scam.
Saleh Umar, the Information Officer stated that his action has violated Public Service Rule (PSR) 0327(XI) that deals with the issues of financial embezzlement.
Garba was found guilty by the Disciplinary Committee of the State Pension Board for smartly swapping the account number of one Audu Mohammed, now deceased, with his own account number which facilitated the change of pay point after the relatives of the deceased reported his death.
The Chairman of the Commission, Abubakar Usman, who presided over the session called on Workers in the State to be God fearing in the discharge of their duties.
He said that the Public Service Rule (PSR) must be observed and adhered to as a guide warning that it will be applied where necessary to sanitize the system so that the service would be run transparently.
The Chairman further assured the Civil Servants in the State that no Worker will be victimized for nothing but the Commission would not fold its hands while bad eggs were spoiling and sabotaging the service despite the Government’s effort in attending to issues concerning the progress and development of the State.
