Meanwhile, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Bauchi South Senatorial District by-election, Lawal Yahaya Gumau, is leading in four out of the seven local government areas that make up the senatorial district.

Results so far released by INEC indicated that Yayaha Gumau got landslide victories in Bauchi, Dass and Kirfi and Toro local government areas as contained in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) data centre.

Yahaya Gumau is leading his closest favourites including Ladan Saliu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Isa Yuguda of the Green Party of Nigeria (GPN) and Hussein Umar of the NNPP.

From the results so far announced by INEC, the APC Candidate has polled a total of 38958 in Bauchi, a total of 30,658 votes in Toro, a total of 11,051 votes in Bauchi and 7432 votes in Dass.

Meanwhile, no fewer than 15, 017 votes have been cancelled in Bauchi local government area as was disclosed on Sunday by INEC while announcing the results of Bauchi local government at INEC Data Centre.

Bauchi local government returning officer, Professor Sani Mohammed Husseini while explaining the reasons for the cancellation said: “All the reason why they were cancelled were over voting as a result of the fact that the number of registered accredited voters fell short of those that actually voted. The cancellation was done by all party agents.”

He added that “Another reason for the cancellation was that there was mutilation of results. Others included non-usage of card readers making the electorate to decide to by-pass the machines.”
