Bauchi gov tasks traditional rulers on effective healthcare delivery services

Bauchi Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has challenged Traditional Rulers from the Nineteen Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory to fashion out resolutions that would facilitate effective healthcare service delivery across the region.

The Governor was speaking while declaring open the Quarterly Review Meeting of the Northern Traditional Leaders’ Committee on Primary Healthcare Delivery held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Bauchi, on Wednesday.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Ibrahim Kashim, the Governor expressed confidence that resolutions of the meeting would facilitate effective healthcare service delivery across the region.

The meeting was aimed at reviewing the progress and proffering solutions to the challenges in healthcare service delivery while working with critical stakeholders.

Bala Mohammed said that his administration is adhering to the Abuja Declaration of 25 percent budgetary allocation to the health sector, acknowledging the role of traditional and religious leaders in actualizing the establishment of over Three hundred Primary Healthcare Centers across the state.

Bala Mohammed appreciated the NTLC Members for the choice of Bauchi State to hold the meeting saying that the outcome will assist his administration in further delivering effective healthcare service delivery to the people of the state.

The Governor told the participants that his administration has remained consistent in improving vaccine acceptance, immunization coverage, and other healthcare delivery services.

He also lauded the efforts of development partners for the partnership with the government in addressing challenges facing the health sector and requested more support and interventions.

In a remark, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Mohammed Ali Pate, expressed the Federal Government’s readiness to consolidate the provision of various health intervention initiatives to guarantee the well-being of citizens.

Mohammed ALI Pate said that the Federal Government most sincerely appreciates the support of the traditional institutions and religious leaders towards the success of various interventions and programs aimed at improving the health status of all Nigerians, particularly those in rural communities.

The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare commended Bala Mohammed for his support, saying that the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will continue to support all initiatives that will improve primary healthcare service delivery to the people.
