… Names NYSC Camp after former SSG
Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has approved the appointment of Barrister Muhammad Sani Umar as the substantive Head of Civil Service of the State.
The Governor announced the appointment during the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held at the Government House, Bauchi on Wednesday.
He charged the new HoS to build on the improvement done by his predecessor stressing that the vision of his administration is to bequeath the State an effective and efficient civil service.

During the meeting, the Council also gave approval for harmonization of the financial store regulations and public procurement law.
Briefing members of the Press on the outcome of the meeting, the State Head of Civil Service, Barr. Muhammad Sani Umar Disina explained that the SEC also approved the establishment of civil service training policy aimed at boosting public servants’ capacity to meet the current technological advancement.
Muhammad Sani Umar Disina added that the financial store regulations and that of public procurement is aimed at enhancing efficiency in the civil service, implored sanctions where appropriate and as well update the civil service regulations to date.
The Head of Civil Service noted that the regulations have not been revised for a long time, prompting the need for a review to align with the present administration’s vision.
The aim is to introduce reforms and eliminate obsolete provisions within the state civil service law.
The state Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Hassan Elyakub, emphasised that the new regulations are aimed at enhancing efficiency in the service.
He assured the public that the new regulations will be implemented strictly and advised civil servants to familiarize themselves with the new regulations.
He said the state ministry of justice has since been directed to draft the bills in order to seek for passage by the state assembly.
In the same vein, the Commissioner of Youths and Sports Development, Hon. Adamu Babayo Gabarin explained that the state executive council has approved to rename the permanent orientation site of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) in Wailo after the renowned scholar, Malam Yusuf Muhammad Baba popularly known as YM Baba.
He explained that it is in view of his significant contributions to the development of education in the state and Nigeria as a whole.
The Commissioner added that the present administration under Governor Bala Mohammed has deemed it fit to recognize and honor personalities who have in one way or the other contributed to the development and wellbeing of the state so as to be remembered and be emulated.
Malam YM Baba was the first State Inspector of the National Youths Service Corps and the pioneer Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi.
The commissioner of Information and Communication, Usman Shehu Usman, expressed his gratitude to the council for their decision and looked forward to implementing the new initiatives aimed at promoting education and development in the state.
