Armed bandits have reportedly attacked Tangaza town in Tangaza local government killing two and abduct another four children in the process.
They also injured another three people who are currently receiving treatment in the hospital while foodstuffs, drinks among others were reportedly carted away in the process.
A source in the town who spoke with Tribune Online on the telephone said the suspected bandits launched the attacks after evening (Magrib) prayers on Friday and began to shoot sporadically, killing a shop owner on the spot and a young girl who died in the hospital.
He further said the timely intervention of security agencies alongside local vigilantes was able to rescue one of the abductees while the bandits escaped with four others.
He said, “They attacked shops along the road killing one of the shop owners in the process and made away with foodstuffs, drinks among other valuables in the shops.
“They also kidnapped not less than five young children while one of them was rescued by security guys who gave them a pursuit into the bush.”
Efforts to get the reaction of the police was not successful as the phone number of the command public relations officer, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, was not reachable at the time of sending this report.
Recall that the current military operations in Zamfara State, as well as the closure of major markets in some states in the Northwest, is reportedly having negative effects on the bandits.
The bandits are now regrouping around towns bordering Zamfara and Sokoto states for nefarious activities against residents.
