The former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Simon Lalong, has stated that the new local government system under autonomy will ensure that funds meant for local governments are sent directly to the people, unlike in the past.
Senator Lalong, who said this while addressing a large gathering of supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the party secretariat in the Shendam local government area of the state on Monday, mentioned that the mammoth crowd was a sign of the party’s acceptance not only in the southern zone but across the entire state.
He stated that the APC can be trusted to manage resources transparently, unlike the PDP, which has been unable to show what it has done with the billions of naira collected in almost two years in the state.
Senator Lalong urged the people to vote for the APC in Wednesday’s local government election, adding that the party has repeatedly proven that it cares for the people and delivers the dividends of democracy.

While at Quan’Pan, the former governor presented party flags to the chairmanship and councillorship candidates of the party and reiterated the APC’s confidence in emerging victorious.
Earlier, Senator Lalong commissioned a block of classrooms in the Pan community, facilitated by Hon. John Dafaan, which he said was further evidence that the APC delivers on its campaign promises.
The senator assured party supporters to come out and vote, ensuring that their votes are counted and properly declared to avoid any manipulation.
The chairmanship candidate for Shendam Local Government, Hon. Basil Piupun, told the senator that the people have promised overwhelming support to deliver victory for the APC in Wednesday’s election.
