The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu has deployed 275 trained and equipped operation Puff adder ll operatives to fight banditry activities in Zamfara State.
This was disclosed on Thursday by the Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Mr Abuto Yaro during the official flag-off of Operation Puff Adder II in the state.
The police Commissioner who appreciated the efforts of IGP for his concern in the fight against crime and criminals particularly in the state said the state always receive much attention in terms of reinforcement.
“On behalf of officers and men of Zamfara State Police Command, I wish to thank the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed A Adamu NPM mni, for always giving Zamfara a Special attention in terms of deployment of additional manpower and their welfare.”
Mr Abutu also commended the Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle for demonstrating uncommon strategy of a Peace accord in the state.
“You may recall that on Monday 15th February 2021, the Inspector General of Police flagged off a reinvigorated special action plan in Abuja, code-named Operation Puff Adder II to reinforce the ongoing fight against Banditry, Kidnapping, Armed Robbery and other violent crimes in the country.”
According to him, the Inspector General of Police has graciously approved the deployment of Two Hundred and Seventy-Five (275) well trained and equipped Puff Adder Operatives headed by Acp Musa Abdullahi.
“The Operatives have since arrived at the state with combat readiness and motivated ability to complement the existing security arrangements.”
The police commissioner maintained that the action was targeted at reclaiming and stabilising the areas earlier dominated by the recalcitrant bandits and other criminal elements in the state.
“In line with the IGP’s policy directives of the Puff Adder, I want to assure the good people of Zamfara State that, the operations in the state will be intelligence-led and community-driven.
He assured that the operation will be executed in sustained collaboration with other security agencies so that recalcitrant bandits who refused or neglected to embrace the ongoing peace process can be successfully dislodged.
He charged officers and men of the operation Puff adder ll deployed to the state to be more diplomat in their operations.
“I want to use this opportunity to charge you to be civil to the law-abiding citizens but firm and ruthless to criminal elements who may want to threaten the safety and security of people of Zamfara State.”
“You’re assured that your welfare will be taken care of to enable you to function effectively.”
He appealed to members of the public to work hand in hand with the Police and other security agencies in the collective task to safeguard the lives and properties of the communities across the state.
“The citizenry are enjoined to have abiding faith in governance and our determination to create a safer environment for all the residents of Zamfara State.”
