The multi-talented and multiple award winner fashionista, Mrs Oluwafunke Debby Adelusi, Chief Executive Officer, CEO, AOD Fashions, took centre stage at Saturday’s June 3, 2023 Fashions Finest Africa in Lagos, Nigeria as top Nigerian creative fashion talents.
The event which was held at Balmoral Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos debuted in 2017 and was the biggest gathering for new and emerging fashion entrepreneurs.
Themed: “Fashion for the Future”, according to the organiser, the event annually brings together industry leaders, stakeholders, artisans, industry creatives and fashion designers from all over Africa, US and Europe to recognize, partake and utilize this medium to present their passion, art, and talents.
“I mean if you were to ask my teenage self if I thought this is where I would be, the answer would absolutely be not. I’m so grateful. I pinch myself all the time just thinking of these amazing opportunities and things that have come my way.
“And I’m just so proud of my AOD Fashions team that’s worked so hard,” said Mrs Adelusi after posing on the white carpet. “So to get fit like this, I get how important that is and the whole team does, and I’m just so excited to get this.”
The Creative Director and fashion designer, speaking about her favourite part of being a fashion designer, Mrs Adelusi said, “My preferred part of being a fashion designer is seeing my designs come to existence just the way I imagined them from sketch to cuts, stitching and fitting. Besides, seeing people appreciate my work as much as I do is also a great feeling. I can never get used to it.”
She added that her greatest strength as a fashion designer was being able to give her clients maximum satisfaction.
Defining what fashion means to her, she said, “Fashion, to me, means an expression of oneself in what one wears, up to the tiniest detail. Fashion tells who one is without having to speak.”
