Anambra PDP applauds Ohaneze Ndigbo for endorsing Atiku/Obi

The endorsement of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Mr Peter Obi by the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has been applauded as a very laudable decision.

The Chairman of the Anambra State Chapter of the Atiku/Obi Presidential Campaign Council, and former gubernatorial candidate of the party in the 2017 governorship election in the state, Mr Oseloka Obaze, has lauded the decision, saying it was a right step in the right direction.

Obaze who disclosed this to our correspondent on Friday said: “Ohaneze Ndigbo, in endorsing the candidacy of PDP’s Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, took the most profound, constructive and courageous decision. This historical gesture will serve Nigeria well,” he said.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo had in a communique issued on Thursday after the meeting of the apex body’s decision making organ, Ohaneze Ndigbo in Nike lake hotel, Enugu said their decision to adopt the duo arose after a critical and dispassionate appraisal of the issues.

It said the body analysed the election manifestos of the various contesting parties, especially with regards to the restructuring of the federation and continued relevance of Ndigbo in the Nigerian geopolitical space.

According to Ohaneze, the nomination of Mr Peter Obi as the Vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has given Ndigbo an opportunity for inclusivity. It also said the presidential candidate of PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has made an avowed commitment to the restructuring of the federation and reconfirmed same in his meetings with high-level US officials during his recent visit to the United States.

Obaze lauding the decision said Ohanaeze by making the decision has shown that it truly loved Nigeria and wished her well.

He urged South Easterners to adhere to the decision of the apex decision making body of the zone by voting massively for PDP come February 16.
