THE All progressive Congress (APC), yesterday set up Reconciliation Committee with a mandate to reconcile with the aggrieved party members who expressed disgruntled after the primary election of the party.
The Reconciliation is coming on the heels of disenchantment and threats of anti-party activities following the emergence of Dr Tony Nwoye as the flag-bearer of the party who beats his rivals including Senator Andy Uba, Engr Barth Nwibe, George Muoghalu, Patrick Nwike, among others.
Inaugurating the Committee, at the party secretary Awka, the State Capital, State Chairman, Barrister Emeka Ibeh noted that the aim is to reach out to aggrieved aspirants who may have natural misgivings about the conduct of the Primary election which threw up Nwoye as the candidate for the November 18, 2017 election, denying that the party does not have any crisis.
Barrister Ibe maintained that reconciliation exercise is intended to carry everybody along in the coming APC government and will herald the governorship campaign slated to hold next week.
He dismissed the rumour making the round that Nwoye will be substituted early October this year, and expressed the hope that the APC will capture Anambra State Government House come March 8, 2018.
The Committee which is headed by the running mate to APC’s gubernatorial candidate, Hon Dozie Ikedife Jnr other members include: an Aspirant of the just concluded primaries, Engr John Bosco Onunkwo, Tony One-Week Muonagor (Secretary), Chief Chidi Ebede, George Ozodinobi (former House of Representatives member), Tony Akaenyi, Chibuzor Obiakor, Chief Uzoma Onwuachu, and Osy Ezenwa, former Secretary to the State Government.
Others are Barrister Hyacinth Nweke (former Commissioner, Youth and Sports), Hon Celestine Oo Ughamadu (former Deputy Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly), Calista Nwachukwu 9former Chair person, Ogbaru Local Government Council, Ike Ekwensi, and Alex Ekemezie.
Also speaking, a close confidant of Dr Nwoye and a chieftain of APC, Chief Basil Ejidike maintained that there is no crack in the party, and hailed the leadership of the party in the State for its wise decision to set up the reconciliation team.
Ejidike who is the former Chairman of Onitsha South Local Government Council, predicted that political tsunami will take place in the State after next week’s flag-off of the campaign as eight governors of the party will be in attendance.
Earlier in his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the Reconciliation Committee, Hon Ikedife Jnr who was a member of the Congress of Progressive Change (CPC), an off-shot of APC appreciated the leadership of the party for finding it worthy to inaugurate the team which he said will face the task with any seriousness it deserves, noting that the Committee would reach out to all aggrieved aspirants and other stakeholders of the Party in order to carry every one along.
