Chairman of the Dr Tony Nwoye Campaign organisation, Ossy Ezenwa, said Obiano was not progressive-minded but only “pretending to be one by being in the APGA, a party founded by Chief Chewas Okorie in 2003 who is presently the United People Party UPP National Chairman with the aim of winning the election for a second term, using APGA’s platform.
He warned the people of the state not to be carried away by Obiano’s South-East states, in general, the Federal Government presence in the region if he is re-elected to continued the affairs of the State.
Our people have had enough of APGA misrule in our state and they are waiting for the real progressives party to take over the state, and that Obiano, should not be addressed as a progressive fellow, he added.
Ezenwa expressed hope that the party will win Anambra State for the APC in the forthcoming election and that Nov. 18, 2017, the day fixed by the Independent National Electorate Commission (INEC) will remain unchanged.
I am not talking about any other candidate but Dr Tony Nwoye will defeat Obiano in his domain, I can give you that assurance.
“I won’t tell you the secret now, but we will defeat him in his hometown, we will win Aguleri town clearly and squarely,” he said, assuring that there will be a time that no other party except the APC will exist in Anambra state.
Reacting however, Chairman of the Obiano Campaign group, Chief Victor Umeh, said, APC is full of hypocrites
Umeh said that Obiano was not the issue in the coming election and should not be made the issue as Anambra people would rather want to know what each candidate to the seat of the governor of the state has to offer them.
The man does not know too much about Anambra politics. What politicians like him do is to hang on a governor like Obiano rather than on issues, thinking that the moment they attack Obiano, that it will give them leeway. But it is rather unfortunate. Rather than articulating what he would do, if he gets there, his focus is to win Obiano in his own ward, very unfortunate,” he stated in an interview with The Tribune Newspaper.
His words: Obiano is not the issue, let them talk on developmental issues, what they want to do for the people of the State. God has helped Obiano, he his rounding off his first term in office. Ezenwa is not contesting with Obiano in the coming election, he is contesting with the APGA and the party has structures in place all over the state. APGA is controlling the 21local government areas; it has 26 out of 28 members of the State House of Assembly and the legislative arm is principally dominated by APGA, so he is not getting it.
He stated, The good people of Anambra State know full well a violence-prone political party Since its inception in 2015, we knew what the country has suffered in the hands of these brigands and APGA been a peace-loving party in Nigeria, has come to put a stop to the wanton destruction of lives and property instituted by APC led- Government.
Nonetheless, Umeh who said that Tony Nwoye was a “political neophyte and an emergency politician” advised him to rather focus on what he would do for the Anambra people if he emerges as governor as against making Governor Obiano the issue.
They will commit crime and blame another for it. APC remains the same old merchant of violence and bloodletting from Action Congress AC to present APC, and nothing new will emerge from this party, that would better the Lives of Nigerians, Umeh asserted.
They are only afraid of their imminent defeat in the November 18 election. The APC people only believe in propaganda and rigging and now we are waiting for them.
“Because they know their candidate is not popular that is why they are doing all things possible to tarnish Obiano’s image and that can’t work for them because the electorate know their choice.”
The parties in recent days tackled each other with APC accusing APGA and PDP of defacing their billboard and posters in all street of Anambra, renting crowd during its rallies in all the LGAs and chanting threatening songs to upturn the audience attention towards the campaign activities of the APC in State..
Furthermore, Umeh said: “Our advice is that all these emergency politicians including PDP candidate, Oseloka Obaze who surface when elections draw near should talk about developmental issues. Obaze has no pedigree in Anambra politics. Let him and his members in PDP go and reorganize their party, and try to bring their party together because
you know for now their party is factionalise, with two factions in Anambra State.
The APGA campaign Director, assured that there was nothing to worry about on the part of APGA as the administration of Obiano has delivered, stressing: the time for the campaign has come, our people know what to do, our people are not foolish. They are happy with the developmental programme of Governor Willie Obiano.
“In the last three and half years or so Obiano has been able to change the face of things in Anambra State, he has turned Anambra state to the cynosure of all eyes. Before he came on board, Anambra state had only one dualised road, and he has increased it to several across the three Senatorial District in the State since he came on board, and as a result of that Anambra state is the only state in Nigeria that has won the United Nation’s Habitat award given to the Governor for his impact in ensuring that he turned the capital of Anambra state to an enviable environment, built a modern market to promote agricultural produce for the traders who were hawking on the streets in order to
meet International standard.
He insisted that aspersions from critics, who might intend to discredit his actions, as being borne out of his re-election bid ambition on Nov 18, 2017, election, would not distract him from extending such goodwill to the people. before, during and after the Guber poll.
