THE Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) has released the prizes to be contested for in its 2017 award.
According to a press statement made available to literary journalists by Denja Abdullahi, president of the association, the prizes for this year’s award include ANA Prize for Poetry, ANA Prize for Prose Fiction, ANA Prize for Drama, ANA Prize for Children’s Literature, ANA/Abubakar Gimba Prize for Fiction and ANA/Maria Ajima Prize for Literary Criticism.
The awards come with cash prizes ranging between N100,000 and N200,000.
Entries can also be made for published and unpublished works.
“We are continuing with the ANA tradition where creativity is rewarded every year.
“This is, therefore, a good opportunity for writers to enter their works for the awards.
“One good thing about the ANA awards, unlike other literary awards, is that we accept both published and unpublished works.
“The reason for this is to give as many writers as possible the opportunity to enter for the awards, since we believe the biggest story in a category might just be yet to be published,” Abdullahi said.
