Amosun promises to meet with management

The students, who had earlier addressed  journalists, later took the protest to the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

While the Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, some of his cabinet members trekked from his office, with the students, to the Moshood Abiola International Stadium, where he gave them audience and  listened to their grievances.

Amosun promised to invite the institution’s management to a meeting on all the matters.

He noted that the issue of non payment of subventions to tertiary institutions was the only matter that concerned his government, while other issues according to him were administrative issues.

He disclosed that his administration had paid the sum of N52 billion in four and half years as subventions to tertiary institutions in the state, submitting that education in primary and secondary schools remained free.

He explained further that tertiary education had been subsidised by his administration.

“If you want your certificate to be worthwhile it will not be free. You will not get the best education that you desired, if you don’t want to pay any charges levied by the school.

“That is why we have subsidised heavily. Go to other institutions and ask about how much they are paying,” he added.
