A house wife, Fatimah Idris, has pleaded with an Ilorin Area Court in Kwara State, to dissolve the four-year-old marriage between her and her husband, Wondi Idris over constant battery and maltreatment.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), their marriage was contracted in 2013 and had produced two children.
“My husband always beat me to a state of unconsciousness whenever we have misunderstandings.
“My lord, I want to end this marriage because I cannot continue to stay with a man who maltreats me and doesn’t care about my health, ’’she said.
The husband however said that he was surprised at the allegation leveled against him by his wife.
Wondi told the court that he was not ready to divorce his wife, adding; “I still love my wife.”
He therefore prayed the court for an adjournment to enable them settle the matter at home.
The court president, Mr Ibrahim AbdulKadri adjourned the case till March 20, for further hearing.
