The Torungbuwa Ruling House has called for a level playing ground in the nomination process of filling the vacant seat of the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland.
The ruling house, in a statement signed by the Olotu Rolade Adetinuoye family, Prince Ibrahim Sanni, made available to the Tribune Online, in Abeokuta, noted that the Torungbuwa Akarigbo Ruling House comprises of three ruling houses which include the Oguntade, Famolu and Oluyomade.
He said that contestants to the exalted seat which became vacant after the demise of Oba (Dr) Michael Sonariwo, on July 25, 2016 were from Oluyomade and Famolu family.
According to him, six contestants had shown interest in the stool which comprises of Professor Gabriel Ogunmola; Prince Adedapo Opeaye; Prince Adeniran Alayo; Prince Ayoola Odukoya; Prince Femi Adenowo and Prince Adeniyi Adesanya from Famolu family also, Prince Babatunde Ajayi; Prince Mutiu Adebayo and Prince Hakeem Kazim from Oluyomade family.
Sanni said, “What we are after is a level playing ground in the process of nomination and selection of who becomes the next Akarigbo of Remoland from the Torungbuwa Ruling House. I am priviledged to have participated in the official gazette in use now.
“I am the Olotu Ebi of Roluade Tinuade Adetinuoye Ruling House and so far the known contestants for the seat of Akarigbo are from Oluyomade and Famolu family ruling houses. We will pick the most situable Akarigbo for Remo people in the shortest period of time.”
He, therefore, enjoined the state government and other stakeholders to ensure transparent nomination exercise when the time comes.
