The wife of the late former governor of Oyo State, Dr (Mrs) Florence Ajimobi will be conferred on Friday, February 23, with an honorary doctorate (Cuasa) by Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos.
She will be conferred with the honour alongside Dr John Tani Obaro, who is the founder and group managing director of SystemSpecs Holdings Limited, at the maiden convocation ceremonies of the privately owned university.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Clement Kolawole, made this disclosure on Wednesday at a news conference to commence a week-long convocation ceremony.
A total of 72 students, who were the first and second sets of graduates from the five-year-old university across eight disciplines, would be awarded first degrees at the event.
20 of them from both sets graduated with first-class honours.
The vice chancellor said Mrs Ajimobi, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Grandex Nigeria, and Dr Obaro were found worthy to bag the university honour based on their respective sterling contributions to education, humanity, and the economy at large.
He added that the investiture of Prince Samuel Adedoyin, a renowned philanthropist and founder of the Doyin Group of Companies, as Chancellor of the university would also take place during the event.
Prof. Kolawole further noted that the convocation lecture on the topic “Disruptive Technology: The Ambiguous Friend? would be held on Thursday and delivered by Africa’s first woman Professor of Computer Science, Mrs. Adenike Osofisan.
He said Deacon Adebowale Tade, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the university and former Executive Chairman and MD of Livestock Feeds Pic, would chair the convocation lecture.
He said all the graduates had been thoroughly trained, even though all 16 courses being offered by the university have received full accreditation from the National Universities Commission and various professional bodies for professional courses among them.
