The Competitive and Consumer Protection Agency (CCPA) has partnered with Association of Table Water Producers (ATWAP) as part of efforts to ensure consumption of quality water in Ondo state.
Speaking on the partnership with the association, the National President of the Association of Table Water Producers (ATWAP), Dr. Mrs. Clementia Ativie, said the partnership is to strengthen consumer protection and water quality standards in Ondo State.
Ativie stated that “the strategic meeting is aimed at fostering collaboration and ensuring compliance with consumer protection standards in the state.”
Ativie who commended CCPA’s efforts in ensuring quality water, highlighting the need for a strong partnership between ATWAP and the agency.
She assured that the association would ensure its members in Ondo State adhere strictly to consumer protection laws and best practices in the water production sector.

She pledged full support and cooperation of ATWAP with CCPA in ensuring that members comply with all necessary regulations.
Also, the Administrative Secretary of CCPA, Hajia Kudirat Ola, commended the leadership of ATWAP for initiating the partnership and reeled out the objectives of the CCPA as related to table and sachet water production and producers.
Ola said: “CCPA is committed to promoting and protecting consumer rights and preventing the marketing of hazardous goods and services.
“The agency also ensures that consumers are well informed about the quality, quantity, potency, purity, standard, and price of products.”
She reiterated government commitment towards consumer protection under the Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa-led administration, promising that the CCPA would work closely with ATWAP to ensure the safety and quality of table and sachet water are not compromised.
Charging all members of the association to, as a matter of compulsion, to obtain licensing from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to operate legally.
The Administrative Secretary of CCPA also stressed the importance of strict adherence to quality control measures, including regular testing of water samples to ensure compliance with international standards.
She tasked members of ATWAP, saying “you must ensure that water is packaged in clean, sanitized containers and properly labeled with relevant information such as expiry dates and batch numbers.
“I want to implore you to adopt good manufacturing practices, including proper facility design, maintenance of equipment, and adherence to personal hygiene standards.
“In further effort to safeguard consumer rights, I will like to advise that a consumer complaint section be established within ATWAP to handle grievances and ensure prompt resolution of consumer-related issues.”
Meanwhile, the Chairman of ATWAP, Ondo State chapter, Engr. Stephen Bolawole, affirmed the association’s readiness to collaborate with the agency to enhance the standards of water production and distribution in the state.
The meeting was informed by the desire and mutual commitment of both organizations to upholding consumer rights and ensuring the provision of safe and high-quality drinking water to residents of Ondo State.
