It has been particularly endemic in the education sector, and it is worrisome that little or no measures have been taken to curb the menace.
I am persuaded that quality education is the framework through which every country produces its future leaders.
Sadly, however, the sector has deteriorated so much that institutions of learning, which are supposed to sharpen the minds of the next generation to become useful members of our society, have now become centres of corrupt practices.
The institutions of higher learning have become notorious for bribery, exchange of marks for money or sexual favours, corrupt practices by the management of institutions, indecency among students, drug abuse and sexual crimes
Corruption in the education sector is the most dangerous aspect of corruption in the country.
The degree of corruption that is taking place in the sector is worrisome and may destroy the country.
Corruption has weakened the sector, leading to low efficiency, wastage and misappropriation of resources and low-quality service delivery.
If urgent action is not taken to address the rot in the sector, the future of the country will be imperilled.
