The ongoing administration in Benue State under the leadership of Governor Samuel Ortom currently owes primary school teachers eleven (11) months’ salaries, secondary school teachers five (5) months’ salaries and the state-owned university is presently on strike due to the laxity of the state government towards the education sector in the state.
Education is essential in every society considering the huge developments that its acquisition attracts over time. It should be noted that the Federal Government has released the bailout funds to the ongoing administration in Benue State under the watch of Governor Ortom.
This is meant to pay all the outstanding salaries and allowances of the workers in the state. This should be used to that effect. The welfare of the workers should be guaranteed which would ensure the growth of the education sector.
Now, the education sector in the state is dying drastically and the ongoing administration in the state is expected to do the needful. At this point, the government must do all in its power to restore the glorious days of the state’s education sector.
At this point, let me remind the present government in the state that the former administration was kicked out of power for owing only four (4) months salaries and allowances of workers.
Therefore, my piece of advice is that the current administration should ensure the payment of salaries and allowances or else it would be shown the way out at the next gubernatorial election in the state.
