20 brand-new tractors have been provided for use by farmers in Bauchi state in view of the demands of tractors by the farmers across the state.
The tractors were procured by the Bauchi State Project Implementation office of the World Bank-funded Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACReASAL) Project with the support of the State Government In a determination to improve farming activities towards ensuring food security in the state.
The project has also procured 94 Rice milling machines, 470 knapsack sprayer machines, 47 multipurpose threshers, 47 decorticating machines and 6 animal feed crushers which would be provided to farmers on hire purchase.
The disclosure was made by the State ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Dr. Ibrahim Kabir Gamawa while interacting with Journalists in Bauchi saying that the move was to support farmers towards massive food production.
Ibrahim Kabir also said that the State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed inaugurated the machines during the launch of the 2024 farming season and sales of fertilizer held in Dass Local Government Area of the state.
According to him, implementation of the ACReASAL Project which has Three major components of Land Restoration, Community Resilience and Institutional Strengthening has significantly improved the environmental standard and living conditions of people across the state.
He noted that plans are being made for the planting of over one million three in areas facing environmental challenges under the ACReSAL Greening the Environment, Saving Lives initiative which is targeting to restore one million hectares of degraded land.
The State Project Coordinator further said that the procurement of two vehicles for the Safari at Yankari Games Reserve and the renovation of public conveniences at Wikki Warm Spring has increased revenue generation by attracting tourists.
He commended the Governor for complementing the efforts of the World Bank Assisted Project through the release of counterpart funding to facilitate the execution of various projects across the state thereby impacting positively on lives.
