Abducted Bayelsa monarch regains freedom

The 84 years monarch of Tarakiri Clan in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, King Agbabou Week, who was abducted twenty-five days ago have been released by his abductors.

TribuneOnline learnt that his son, the State Commissioner for Agriculture and natural resources, Hon. Doodei Week, broke the news on his Facebook page few minutes ago today.

Several attempts to get the comments of the Commissioner on the development proved abortive. However, it has not been ascertained if any ransom money was paid for his release.

He posted: “Finally, my role model, man who thought me things, including courage, fear of God, love, perseverance, respect, humility, how to say no or yes, when it is right to say it, and above all, prays for me, is back home after 25 days of incarceration by adversarial elements. To God be glory.”

Recall that armed men suspected to be kidnappers abducted the 84 years old father of the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Doodei Week, in his country home at Ayama-Ijaw in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state.

It was also reported that the kidnappers who thoroughly searched the house of the King, collected a television set, jewellery and other valuables before dragging him on the ground to the waterside and fled the community.

A close family source told TribuneOnline that he was released on Sunday night after several negotiations with the family, but the amount paid as ransom for his release was not disclosed.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Asimin Butswat, responded with a text message saying: “I have not been informed about the released.”
