THE Companion, an association of Muslim men in business and the professions, will be hosting its 2024 conference and sixth “National Discourse” tomorrow in Abuja.
This was contained in a statement signed by Muideen Adeleke and Tajudeen Balogun, chairman and secretary of the media, mobilisation and publicity sub-committee of the national organising committee, respectively.
According to the statement, the event will take place inside the auditorium of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Abuja, at 10 am.
The discourse, with the theme ‘Between Patriotism and Self-Preservation’, also has a lecture entitled ‘Dilemma of the Nigerian Youth: Challenges At Home, Uncertainties Abroad’.
The theme, according to the statement, is one of the means by which the organisation is lending its voice on national issues of interest.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Tajudeen Abbas, will chair the discourse.
The statement added that the Minister of Youth Development, Dr Jamila Bio Ibrahim, will deliver the Keynote speech while the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Honourable Abike Dabiri-Erewa, is the guest speaker and the immediate former Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, will be a co-speaker.
The Registrar of the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Is-haq Oloyede, is the special guest of honour.
The discourse will have in attendance, The Companion members from its existing six districts, Abuja, Lagos, Oyo, Kwara, Osun and Cross River states.
It is expected to attract businessmen, captains of industry, government functionaries, non-governmental organisations, academics and students from across the country and from the Diaspora.
According to the statement, the discourse will be followed immediately by a non-elective conference.
