Men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State have arrested a 60-year-old man, Bolaji Olarongbe, for aiding and abetting theft and housebreaking, alongside his 45-year-old accomplice, Moshood Shittu.
In a statement by the public relations officer of the state command of the NSCDC, Babawale Afolabi, in Ilorin on Tuesday, the suspect, Olanrongbe, was into receiving stolen items while Shittu went about burgling people’s houses.
He said items recovered from the suspects’ hideout include laptops, android phones, phone accessories, DVD players, among other valuable items.
“On Sunday 07/11/2021, around 13:00 hours, we received a complaint from one Yemisi Adefila, 41 years, a resident of Oko Oba area of Gaa Akanbi who came to report a case of housebreaking where he accused one Moshood Shittu of breaking into her parents’ house and carted away GOtv decoder, gas cylinder, DVD player, and other valuables,” he said.
The civil defence spokesman said that it was during the interrogation that the prime suspect, (Moshood Shittu), confessed to the crime and also took NSCDC detectives to the house of Olarongbe, located at G220 Yekelu Compound, Bolanta area in the Ilorin metropolis, where various stolen items were reportedly recovered.
“The state commandant, Iskilu Ayinla Makinde, has been briefed of the incident and he has ordered full-scale investigations after which the suspects will be charged to court,” he said.
