There are specific questions you shouldn’t be asking just anyone because they are none of your business. You are very curious and insensitive, I know. But you shouldn’t be doing this as an elegant person. Even if you’re very close to someone, you still have to be polite when asking sensitive questions.
As for strangers, these are the questions you should never ask:
1. Are you pregnant?
There’s a way this sounds, even if translated to your respective dialect. Regardless, you’re trying to know more than supposed. Asking someone this question would make them uncomfortable and reluctant to reply. You might find yourself in a situation where people start avoiding you because of the insensitive questions you ask.
2. How much did you buy it?
If you’re meeting someone for the first time and admire what he or she is wearing—be it a chain, wristwatch, or even their outfit—instead of complimenting it, the first question you choose to ask is, “How much did you buy it?” You may not have the luxury of time to explain your intention to everyone. So, if you’re not trying to downplay anyone, never ask this kind of question.
3. Do you know who I am?
You’re meeting a stranger and asking, “Do you know who I am?” Does it matter? Nobody knows who you are. Instead, start a conversation that would lead to understanding each other.
4. When are you getting married?
These days, people within your circle even take this question personally. Nobody knows when they will get married except those engaged and planning when. It will take time to tell what will happen tomorrow and how. Never ask a stranger when he or she is getting married; it has nothing to do with your growth.
5. How old are you?
Asking someone of their age would make them feel uncomfortable, especially when they are not in a situation where it’s required. Age shouldn’t be of concern when meeting a stranger; act mature because you’re not a kid. And if you choose to be a kid, stop kidding. Smiles…
6. How often do you have sex?
Oh, come on! A question like this is very embarrassing. Don’t ever ask a stranger about their sex life. Even if the person is interested in knowing you better, he or she would always try to stay away.
