A 51-year-old man, identified as Charles Ohanele, has been remanded in the federal correctional facility after he allegedly ‘penetrated’ the anus of a seven years old boy in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the defendant was arraigned for unnatural penetration, criminal offence and intimidation.
The police said the matter was reported by one Aremu Busayo of Government House Junction at GRA, Ilorin, who had said that her son (name withheld) came crying to her while she was in her shop to complain of pain in his anus.
“The boy said to be inconsolable, made the mother check his back, discovering bloodstain in his pant and bruises in his anus.
“During the investigation conducted at Juvenile Welfare Center Gender Child protection Unit, it was revealed that Ohanele, popularly known as Papa deceived the victim into his house by telling him to come and collect biscuits.
The police said that the defendant had carnal knowledge of the boy inside his house and inflicted injuries on his anus which resulted in him bleeding through his anus.
It was said that Ohanele threatened to kill his victim if he disclosed the incident to anyone.
The police prosecutor, DSP, Ologbonsaye urged the court to remand the defendant, premising on the fact that the offence is not an ordinarily bailable offence.
Magistrate Afusat Alege also yielded to the prosecution’s prayer by ordering Ohanele’s remand at Mandala correctional centre, and also adjourned the matter till May 10, 2022, for further mention.
