The police on Thursday arraigned five suspected cultists in an Ota Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The police charged Mutaru Idris, 28; Rasheed Olutade, 29, Azeez Ibrahim, 22, and two teenagers with three counts of membership of an unlawful society, conspiracy and breach of peace to which they pleaded not guilty.
The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Abdulkareem Mustapha said that the accused persons committed the offence on March 27 at about 3.30 a.m. in Mosalashi area, Ota.
Mustapha also alleged that the accused belonged to a society identified as “Aiye Confraternity.”

He said that the accused also conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace in the community.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 249 (d), 430 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Mathew Akinyemi, in his ruling, granted each of the accused N200, 000 bail with two sureties in the like sum.
Akinyemi ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must be gainfully employed.
In addition, the magistrate ordered the sureties must show evidence of tax payment to Ogun State Government as part of the bail conditions.
He adjourned the case until May 5 for hearing.
